Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Dyson DC18 Slim All-Floors Cyclone Upright Vacuum CleanerCustomer Review: Simply one of the Best Vacuum! Summary: 5 StarsI usually don't write reviews, but decided to write one for this vacuum because it's one of the best vacuum I ever owned. This is the first upright vacuum I ever owned and my previous vacuums are handheld canister vacuums.
The first time I used this vacuum, I noticed all the dust that it sucked up and the carpet just feel so much cleaner. I also used it to vacuum my tile floors and it picks up all the dust. The different accessories included are great for vacuuming the stairs, in small areas, and on top of my printer and other areas. It's also bagless and easy to empty. Great for people who have allergies and asthma since this has hepa filter.
Even though I vacuum every two weeks, it sucks up a lot of dust every time. I'm just amazed at how great this vacuum is and am so happy that I invested in a more expensive vacuum. It is worth every penny.
Customer Review: best vacuum ive ever seen in action Summary: 5 Starsgets my carpet very clean. it makes a huge difference. feet feel clean on the carpet, air quality improves in my home after vacuuming. its a delight. very small and light, easy to dispense of dust after use. i can use it 2-3 times before it maxes out. no bags to worry about. i love this thing. well worth the money -- and im not the type of guy youd figure would spend hundreds on a vacuum!
Customer Review: All the rumors are true...Dysons are worth every penny. Summary: 5 StarsI used to laugh about people spending hundreds of dollars on a vacuum. I used to think to myself, "Really? How could a vacuum be SOOOO superior to justify spending a few hundred dollars on it?" I finally caved in because I was able to buy this vacuum for a really fantastic deal and it hasn't let me down. I have had it over a year and it still continues to deliver superior performance.
Let me just say we are a household of two adults and two dogs. We don't typically wear our shoes indoors and our dogs are indoors most of the day. You would never think that the carpet is "that" dirty. When on a twice-a-week vacuuming schedule, the amount of dirt, dust, pet/human hair, etc. that this vacuum picks up is almost absurd (in a good way)!
I use this vacuum on all my floors (bamboo, tile, carpet, vinyl), for vacuuming out my car, cleaning out my guinea pigs' cage, and quick clean-up jobs here and there; it proves to be handy and effective for all jobs.
I guess it's kind of sick to say, but I actually get some enjoyment out of vacuuming now because I can't help but feel so clean and accomplished after I see what's inside the canister when I'm done.
Oh, and it's true what they say...this vacuum never loses its suction. Even when it's full or clogged (trust me, clogging it is not easy), it still goes and goes.
Customer Review: Perfect for my apartment Summary: 5 StarsI bought one of these refurbished, and have had no problems with it. Its slim size is a huge plus; my apartment only has a small closet, which this wonderful vacuum fits nicely in. Like all Dysons, this one is a pleasure to use and easy to clean and maintain. I've used a DC24 before, which I liked as well; this streamlined version feels just as powerful and even more maneuverable.
The only small annoyance is that attachments fall off easily when clipped onto the side; I would recommend keeping them stored somewhere else. (To my knowledge, this is equally true of all Dysons.) And, of course, there's the power cord--plentifully long, but inevitably obtrusive. If Dyson could churn out a cordless, rechargeable version of this thing, they would have created the perfect vacuum cleaner.
Customer Review: Expensive, and worth every penny Summary: 5 StarsThis vacuum has changed how I look at vacuums, and it would take a lot to make me recommend anything but a Dyson. This is the epitome of well designed functional products that really reinforces the adage "you get what you pay for." If you have any trepidation about the high up front cost, I offer this reassurance as someone who was in the same position of concern - you can buy a cheap vacuum that barely works once every year or two, or you can buy this vacuum, enjoy using it, and keep it around for a long while.
We use this vacuum heavily in our home with wood floors, rugs, and carpeting. It consistently cleans all these surfaces incredibly well.
I have also done some home renovation with my wife, and we don't have room for a shop-vac. While I can't say any Dyson should be used as a shop vac consistently, we put our Dyson through the paces with some heavy duty jobs after a few projects. Honestly - we clogged the vacuum - a lot. What I'm impressed with is the fact that the vacuum was durable enough to handle this, and EASY TO REPAIR when we got something stuck. The whole vacuum is incredibly modular. Where many other vaccums seem to have screws, belts, bags, clips, springs etc, the Dyson has extremely well designed access to ALL the parts. You can remove the hose from the handle, you can remove the hose from the body, you can remove the base suction attachment, all without any extra tools.
I think you'll also save money in the long run since the HEPA filter is permanent and will never need to be replaced. Cleaning the removable filter is easy as well. Eventually, the inside of the cyclone / debris canister got some dust really caked on. Low and behold, that comes apart with no tools and can be cleaned as well. You might be tempted to say it's more convenient to be able to just throw away bags, but I would argue that the internals of other bag vacuums get clogged as well, and there is no easy way to clean them like you can with the Dyson.
We've had our Dyson for probably 2 years now, and after dealing with our enormous, clumsy, messy and ineffective previous vacuum, I'm still amazed when I vacuum our wood floors and can watch the vacuum draw cat hair from several feet away as I move the vacuum toward it.
I just about had a heart attack when my wife wanted to upgrade from our old < $200 vacuum to one costing nearly $400, but after having had it for awhile, it's been worth every penny. My wife is short and small in stature and insisted on this small vacuum which would make it easier to maneuver and use - and I didn't believe it at all. After having it for awhile, I find myself looking forward to vacuuming because it's simply so easy to move this vacuum and reach into small spaces with it. I can't believe the engineers could pack so much power into such a lightweight package. We actually store our vacuum in our front coat closet, and folks rarely even notice.
"So there, honey - I admit it - you were right" :)
