Customer Review: Good, but not Great

I purchased this Dyson vacuum as a replacement for an old Black & Decker Dustbuster I used to clean up seed kernels and feathers from my pet birds. The Dyson did a fairly good job and had better suction than the old Dustbuster, but was ultimately disappointing. Dyson's claim of "never loses suction" is not completely true. If the filter(s) get too dirty, or clogged, the the suction does drop off.
Pros:
Good suction.
Suction level does not drop off as battery runs down.
Attractive styling.
Good balance.
Easy operation.
Wall mountable recharger.
Cons:
Expensive.
Relatively short operation time - similar to the old Dustbuster.
Primary filter clogged with seed kernels & feathers, reducing suction.
Long recharge time.
*Sensitive electronics not well sealed. Easily damaged if splashed by water.
*Do not use this vacuum near water. I was using it to vacuum the car after washing it and my son thought it would be funny to spray me with the hose. Very little water got into the vacuum, but it was enough to short the trigger switch and make the vacuum run continuously until the battery died. The vacuum never worked again after that. The old Dustbuster worked as well as it ever did after a similar incident.
